Polaroid 10K Road Race 2008

22 Years and still going strong!

10K Road Race series 2008
The Finish at Loch Lomond Shores - Vale 10k 2007

Welcome to the home page of “the best wee road race series in the UK”. We didn’t make this up it is what one of our entrants told us!

22 years and still going strong, in 2007 we introduced “chip” technology and it was a great success, we moved to “no entries on the day” and the numbers never wavered. We continue to enjoy sponsorship from Polaroid Eyewear who underwrite the series and provide all of the administrative support; they also kindly donated the sunglasses we used for our main winners and for spot prizes across all four races.

Thanks to the continued support of Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire, Adairs Solicitors Dumbarton, Highland Spring and others we can keep our entry fees competitive and provide a well organised, safe value for money race series.

We are pleased to host the Scottish 10K Road Race Championships at the Polaroid EYEWEAR 10K at the Vale of Leven on Sunday 15th June, this race is also one of the prestigious “Stewarts Road Racing Grand Prix of Scotland” one of only ten events chosen.

We thought we would let some of our participants, partners and sponsors tell you what they think of the Polaroid Eyewear Series.

“I always make a special effort to run the Polaroid runs as you always get the top runners competing against each other and you know the races are well organised and the routes are fast and ideal for challenging your pb.
see you at this years ,

“I was both astonished and delighted to receive a text with not only my time and position, but my position in my age group, within an hour of finishing the Helensburgh 10k. What a brilliant service which the big races haven't managed yet. The races are very well organised with a great atmosphere."

For the past seven years West Dunbartonshire Council's Sports Development Unit has organised the Fun Run and Polatoddle, which have been attached to the Vale of Leven Polaroid 10k. The atmosphere generated by the children involved adds to the buzz of an excellent 10K Road Race.

It's always a fun packed family day that's filled with excitement and good sportsmanship. All of the Polaroid Series 10K road races are very well organised and consistently attract a high number of high performing runners from all over country and abroad. Sports Development's jogscotland programme has over one hundred and fifty people involved in weekly sessions throughout West Dunbartonshire. Many of who could not jog for one minute at the start of their training.

The Polaroid Series has the ability to cater for all abilities, which is extremely important in improving the health and well-being of local people.  The Polaroid 10K Series provides an accessible and comfortable environment for jogscotland members to experience a 10K race on their doorstep. Well done to everyone involved in organising the Polaroid Eyewear Road Race Series and all the best for 2008.
